It was only a matter of time until we heard of someone doing something like this and now a start-up based in Irvine, California have announced they will be “developing the world’s first series of fully-immersive erotic encounters.” The ‘game’ is due for release sometime around the public release of the Oculus Rift in early 2014, promising to locate players in the center of the ‘action’.
Sinful Robot boasts 9DOF (Degrees of Freedom, up, down, lef, right, forward, backward etc) and is currently looking to hire programmers and 3D artists who wouldn’t mind setting up in the Orange County. The company founder, Jeroen Van den Bosch was the creative force behind several successful diital entertainment productis for companies such as NaturalMotion and PokerStars and is joined by seed investor and Co-Founder, Kiran Sidhu.
While it is an interesting idea, I can foresee there being some pretty awkward situations stemming from the fact that players are blissfully unaware of their real surroundings. 3D Porn encountered a hiccup as they discovered that the majority of 3DTVs are situated in living rooms which are communal areas and their viewing audience preferred privacy.
I dread to think of the amount of people who will be discovered ‘mid-Bosch’ and have absolutely no idea they have been interrupted… Nevertheless, im still going to try it as soon as I can.
I also found this rather interesting piece of hardware (see what I did there?), which I imagine will eventually be integrated into VR games like these. It’s a truly revolutionary way to play games.

Sinful Robot has unfortunately been cancelled. Wicked Paradise is the name of the new project that the developers are now working on.
