26th September 2012:
The Oculus Rift is now available for pre-order from the company’s website here, and Dev kits will set customers back the same $300 that backers on Kickstarter paid.
This is a development kit and is not designed for the average consumer. Founder, Lucky Palmer, wants support from developers before he releases a version for the mainstream.
It will come complete with Epic Games’ Unreal engine, as well as Unity Technology’s Unity engine, and will come complete with a copy of Doom BFG – the first Oculus-rift-ready title. Other titles that will be compatible are Blackspace, Doom 4, Dream, Hawken, Miner Wars 2081, Montas, Routine, Star Citizen and Strike Suit Zero.
We’ll be waiting patiently on the door mat until ours arrives.
