Dev Kits Pushed Forward To March 2013

Oculus have stated that due to high demand and production scaling, the Oculus Rift will be released 3 months later than expected.

The demand for thousands rather than hundreds means that Oculus have had to drastically scale up, moving manufacturing over to China. The 5.6 inch screen they wanted to use has also been discontinued, so they’ve had to settle for a slightly different seven inch screen that will weigh more (30 grams), but will offer considerably less motion blur. Oculus have said that they are using the added production time to fine tune their motion sensor meaning that it will process position data at a much higher rate than its predecessor.
